The Rules of the Game

It’s a relatively trivial thing in the broader landscape of college access and success, but in this article on the latest trick for buying (literally) time on overdue assignments (emailing a professor a deliberately corrupted file that one has bought online and then sending the actual assignment only after the professor discovers the problem days later) is this:
Who are the best customers? “Not to anyone’s surprise, but my best clients are from Ivy and top tier schools. I guess the more perfect people think you are, the more likely in life you are to cheat to keep that perception.”
While so many first -generation college students are struggling to figure out the rules of the college game that no one will explain, at least some students for whom college is a family legacy simply don’t consider that the rules do apply to them.
